In a crowded online marketplace, it can be difficult to make your products stand out. In this post we’ll look at a few simple ways to boost your online presence and increase sales.
Get SEO Savvy
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the cornerstone to increasing traffic to your eBay store or site. To identify your primary keywords ask yourself which terms shoppers are likely to use when searching for your items. Then when you’re listing your products pick 3 to 5 of these and use them in product titles and item descriptions. Include brand name and model and add in product identifiers to ensure your items get found in search engines.
Be image-conscious
Over 92% of people said that visuals* influence their purchase so having great pictures to showcase your products is an essential. On eBay you can upload up to 12 photos for free, so use all this quota. Take pics on a good quality camera with close up shots to show off product details in full (as well as highlight imperfections). Stick to or exceed minimum image resolution requirements – for eBay this is at least 1600 pixels on the longest side - and consider mobile viewers by cropping images to fit the frame.
Write inviting product descriptions
Grab viewers’ attention with catchy titles and use up all your character limit including key details both in titles and descriptions stating exactly what your item is. Use subtitles to showcase special offers. Check you’re in the right categories and use item all item specifics. Make descriptions short and sweet without extraneous HTML because it won’t render correctly on mobile. Use a clear layout and font, and break up long paragraphs.
Optimise your landing page
Keep customers invested in your product by making your landing page inviting and easy to navigate with an obvious call to action. Ensure the page is relevant – if someone clicks on your ad or listing for ‘blue prom dresses’ then the landing page should show them blue prom dresses – not black cocktail dresses!
Just making a few changes can lead to a significant uplift in sales – we hope these help.
